Vår forening samarbeider nå med finsk-somalisk legeforening, svensk-somalisk legeforening, britisk-somalisk legeforening, amerikansk-somalisk legeforening, dansk-somalisk legeforening og tysk-somalisk legeforening. Samarbeidet førte i 2025 til Europeisk-somalisk helsekonferanse arrangert i Helsinki, og flere prosjekter kommer!

✨ ESMC 2025 – A Historic Weekend in Helsinki, August 16! ✨
For the very first time, over 300 Somali doctors and health professionals gathered in Helsinki for the European Somali Medical Conference – one of the largest gatherings since the civil war.
We were proud to represent Norway:

🇳🇴 Our Vice-Chair Warsan Ismail joined an inspiring panel discussion
The highlight of the weekend? Listening to Dr. Deqo Mohamed speak about women’s health in Somalia – a talk that moved the entire audience to a standing ovation. 👏🏾
We extend our deepest gratitude to the organizers in Finland, to all partners, speakers, and participants. Special thanks to the Somali medical organizations from Germany, UK, Sweden, Denmark, US, and Canada who made this gathering truly global. 💙
This is just the beginning – together we are building bridges between the diaspora and Somalia. 🚀

The Vision Behind ESMC 2025

This is how Khaliif Awad, Chair of the Somali Medical Association in Finland, explained why the initiative for ESMC 2025 was born.
👉🏾 The goal of the conference was clear:
To bring together Somali doctors and health workers from all over the world to collaborate on health, knowledge, and the future of Somalia.
Members of the Finnish Somali Medical Association visited hospitals in Somalia, where they witnessed not only the immense challenges but also the resilience, hope, and strength of the people. This inspired a vision: uniting the expertise of the Somali diaspora and creating opportunities that directly benefit communities in Somalia.
